Membership
Membership in O.T.O. is open to all men and women of at least the age of 18 and who are sponsored by two current members in good standing. We are a dues collecting organisation, with all members paying annual dues to Grand Lodge, plus fees levied for their initiations. Some groups have additional fees to cover local operations and events. Rights of membership cease if not in financial good standing. That being said, our dues and other levies are quite modest. All members are entitled to the introductory degrees of O.T.O., after which further advancement in the Order is by invitation only. We encourage all of our members to actively participate in their local groups - as you progress, there are opportunities to participate in local and national Order administration, governance, as well as our ecclesiastical and initiation roles. The Order operates as a society of initiates, and has mechanisms for its members’ social welfare and, if necessary, dispute resolution. Depending on the capabilities of individual groups, some activities and events are open to the public and our families and friends. Members with an interest in the Gnostic Catholic Mass (Liber XV) and related services can begin training as Officers (Priests, Priestesses & Deacons) from relatively early on in O.T.O. membership. Members of the Sixth Degree and higher have a personal two-way learning & teaching relationship with the Grand Master.
More information about our System is available in our authorised publications.
After contacting us, we will typically refer you to your nearest group to arrange a meeting with Order representatives. We do not actively recruit or 'sell' membership, and want you to feel comfortable that joining our ranks will benefit your own journey. As the old saying goes, you will get out of the O.T.O. what you put into it.
